Deputy: Traders are concerned. How will the spots be allocated in the new Osh market?
During a visit to the existing market, Kanibek Tumanbaev, head of the Department of Affairs, stated that 916 traders will receive spots at the new market. However, according to the deputy, the akimat reports that around 8,500 people are working at the market.
Amangeldiev acknowledged that he does not have information on the exact number of registered traders. Vice Mayor Ramiz Aliyev added that some of them are working without registration. He also noted that the mayor's office and the Department of Affairs have already compiled preliminary lists for the allocation of spots.
“The commission determines the total number. Some of those who are trading are not registered. There are cases where ten relatives work from one spot. Therefore, we have been tasked with creating a clear list of those who are engaged in official trading activities,” Aliyev said.
Amangeldiev emphasized that despite the difficulties, the city must develop, and the relocation of the Osh market is a necessary step. The deputy agreed with this but expressed concern for the traders who do not know where to turn with their questions. Many of them rent trading spots at prices comparable to real estate, and therefore they are worried about how the allocation of spots will take place.
“I have one suggestion: the management of this project lies with the Department of Affairs, the mayor's office determines the number of spots, and the Ministry of Construction answers questions. Can you indicate whom people should contact? Create an interdepartmental commission that includes all bodies that can provide information so that people know where to go with their questions. The akimat does not know, the mayor's office does not know, and it is impossible to reach the Department of Affairs,” the deputy noted.
Amangeldiev agreed with the proposal and confirmed that such a commission will be created.
