Alternative roads, relocation of the central market, construction of high-rise buildings — the general plan of the city of Uzgen has been put up for discussion.
On February 4, a presentation of the general plan for Uzgen took place at the city hall, attended by around 400 residents of the city.
The event was attended by Mayor Eldos Taev, Deputy Akim of the Uzgen District Maksat Ibraimov, Chairman of the City Council Nurullo Shamanov, the plan's developer, and local residents.
The townspeople asked questions to the head of the architectural department of the city hall, Nursultan Tashmamatov, and expert Chyngyz Anarbaev. All suggestions were recorded in the minutes.
Nursultan Tashmamatov reported that the legal area of the general plan is 1,080 hectares, and in the future, over the next 20–25 years, it will increase to 5,000 hectares. The relocation of the city market is planned outside the city, where shopping centers and multi-story buildings will be constructed. Improvements to the transport infrastructure are also planned, including two alternative bypass roads—one from the north and the other from the south.
Additionally, new plots have been allocated for kindergartens and sports facilities, and measures for the preservation of green areas have been developed. This is the first comprehensive general plan for Uzgen since gaining independence; previously, such plans had not been developed. The previous general plan was created in 1986, and its area was significantly smaller. According to current data, with a population of 65,000, in 20–25 years it may exceed 120,000.
