He noted that the cost of apartments in Bishkek has nearly reached the level of major world cities. The deputy expressed surprise: have the incomes of the population really increased to such heights?
He asked: "What measures are you taking to control prices in other sectors and what are you doing regarding housing prices?"
The Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev replied that this issue could be discussed on the platform of the joint commission established by the parliament and the government. However, he emphasized that current prices are still being kept in check.
"If prices in any sector rise sharply, the government can intervene. Nevertheless, thanks to the efforts of the State Mortgage Company, prices remain stable for now. If it weren't for the SMC, the cost of housing could have increased significantly more, as there is a shortage of land plots in Bishkek and other major cities. The cost of one square meter of land has a huge impact on the price of the property. Therefore, at this moment, the SMC plays a regulatory role in maintaining prices," he noted.
