The draft law on state control over breeding livestock is being discussed in the Jogorku Kenesh in the second reading
The Jogorku Kenesh is considering a draft law aimed at strengthening state control in the field of breeding livestock, including issues related to the export of animals.
At the parliamentary meeting, the First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Zhanibek Kerimaliev, reported that the authorities' top priority is the official registration of Kyrgyz horses, after which the issue of banning their export abroad will be discussed.
Kerimaliev noted: “For example, in Turkmenistan, the export of Akhal-Teke horses is prohibited, and in China, the export of certain types of tea is restricted. We should also first register our horses and then consider the possibility of banning their export.”
He added that experts from France recently visited Kyrgyzstan and recognized several breeds as Kyrgyz.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that Kyrgyz horses are in high demand in Saudi Arabia due to their endurance and ease of feeding. In this regard, the authorities consider it necessary to strengthen control over exports, up to and including a ban on the export of certain types of animals, to protect the breeding stock of Kyrgyzstan.
