In Bishkek, an exhibition by artist Zlata Beard titled "To Be... / To Be" will take place.
In her work, the artist explores how social and cultural norms influence an individual's self-perception. The choice of the opening date, coinciding with Friday the 13th, emphasizes the conditionality of such norms and their entrenchment in society.
The exhibition is dedicated to states of transition and rethinking, when the boundaries set by society, family, and gender do not align with a person's inner world.
The exhibition is organized as a route, where painting allows one to observe the process of change — from rejecting certain identities to embracing others, moving towards a state where the focus shifts from "being someone" to simply "being." One of the central concepts of the exhibition is mutation as a metaphor for the state of "between," when a person has not yet become new but is already beginning to emerge from the old. This process of change underscores that wholeness does not always imply stability, and uncertainty becomes a part of life.
The exhibition includes 13 sequential zones-states, where the viewer can walk alongside the artist, providing an opportunity to rethink their own experience or simply enjoy the atmosphere without the need to draw conclusions.
