According to information provided by the university, the new catalog highlights archaeological complexes related to a crucial stage in the history of Eurasia, marking the transition from antiquity to the Middle Ages. This period was characterized by mass migrations, military conflicts, and the formation of new entities, as well as the fall of major empires, which significantly altered the political and ethnocultural structure of the continent.
Professor Nikolai Seregin, a leading expert at the Scientific and Educational Center for Altai Studies and Turkology "Great Altai," noted that the study of archaeological monuments from this era is one of the main areas of research work. In recent years, scholars have published a number of monographs and scientific articles, as well as undertaken several major projects.
The first issue of the catalog presents materials from three necropolises located in the Chemalsky District of the Altai Republic: Choburak-I, Ust-Biyke-III, and Karban-I. These monuments were studied at different times, and the results of their research have been fully published in recent years with the participation of university archaeologists.
