Searches were conducted in the offices of Elon Musk's company X, formerly known as Twitter, in Paris as part of an investigation initiated by the cybercrime prosecutor's office in 2025. This was reported by Le Figaro.

Prosecutor Laura Beccuo announced that Elon Musk and former X CEO Linda Yaccarino are to appear in court on April 20.

Additionally, other X employees will be summoned to court to testify as witnesses. The investigation was prompted by accusations from French lawmakers, who claim that X uses its algorithms for foreign interference and "distortion of democratic processes" in the country.

The French prosecutor's office is also examining the work of the Grok chatbot, integrated into X, which, according to the investigation, facilitated the spread of Holocaust denial content and sexual deepfakes.

The founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, reacted to these events, calling France a country where social networks that provide "people with at least some freedom" (such as Telegram, X, and TikTok) are criminally prosecuted. He emphasized: "Don't be mistaken: this is not a free country."
