Thanks to the facial recognition system, more than 3,000 suspects have been identified.
In Kyrgyzstan, video surveillance and facial recognition technologies are becoming increasingly important for ensuring the safety of the population. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, cameras installed in public places effectively assist in identifying offenses, solving crimes, and preventing new crimes.
Since 2022, the facial recognition system has been actively functioning at the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Operational Management Center. Thanks to its capabilities, the identities of more than 3,000 suspects and missing persons have been established. Currently, over 3,000 cameras are conducting round-the-clock monitoring, processing data using artificial intelligence technologies.
This system has demonstrated its effectiveness by recognizing faces even when individuals are wearing medical masks or glasses. When matches are detected, the information is automatically transmitted to operational services, allowing for a quick response to potential threats.
As part of the "Safe Country" initiative, a phased installation of up to 20,000 modern video cameras is planned across the entire territory of the republic.
