President Sadyr Japarov commented on the criticism from deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh regarding the reform in the field of driving schools and the process of obtaining driver's licenses during a meeting with the public at the State Institution "Unaa" on February 3.

“When pressing issues start being discussed in society, some immediately rush to speak into the microphone, wanting to win the sympathy of the people and voters. The importance of how justified and beneficial this is for the state often takes a back seat. At the same time, calls are heard: ‘No! Give us another 2-3 months!’ or ‘Leave everything as it is!’, and the government is accused of being allegedly the ‘enemy of the people’. It creates the impression that some act as defenders of the people, while others act as their opponents,” he noted.

The president also addressed the deputies with a request: “Before bringing any issue to discussion, please study it thoroughly. As the saying goes, measure seven times — cut once. It is important to understand what real benefit this decision will bring to the people and the state.”

“If the government indeed has mistakes, then no one should remain silent. I myself was a deputy twice, but I never resorted to populism or spoke out with shouts,” Japarov added.

He urged: “When such issues arise, it is necessary to gather the people, seat representatives of the government and society at one table, and organize an open discussion. Only after that should you go to the microphone and make your statements.”
