According to statistical information, there is no significant outflow of teachers due to the reform of transitioning schools in Kyrgyzstan to a 12-year education system. This was stated by Olga Bryzgalova, a representative of the Ministry of Education, at a recent briefing.

She noted that over the past decade, the number of students in the country has increased. If in 2015 there were 1 million 43 thousand children studying in schools, now their number has reached 1 million 536 thousand. This has naturally affected the number of teachers, which currently stands at 93.6 thousand. For comparison, in May 2023, there was a shortage of 698 teachers in schools, and in May 2024, the shortage increased to 894, even though the transition to 12-year education had not yet taken place during that period. In May 2025, the deficit amounted to 850 teachers, added Bryzgalova.

To address staffing issues, vacancies in educational institutions are published in the automated information system "Mugalim," where those interested can register for employment.
As of January 2026, there is a shortage of 761 teachers in state and municipal schools. The greatest deficit is noted in the subjects of physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology. Regarding regions, the highest demand for teachers exists in the Chui region and Bishkek, which is associated with high population density, emphasized Olga Bryzgalova.
