In 2025, there is a concerning increase in road traffic accidents in Kyrgyzstan, according to information from the Main Department for Law Enforcement and Legal Statistics of the General Prosecutor's Office.
The total number of registered traffic accidents for the year amounted to 8,456, which indicates a 19.1% increase compared to 2024.
The highest number of accidents occurred in the following regions:
- Bishkek — 27 %;
- Chui Region — 13 %;
- Osh Region — 24 %;
- Jalal-Abad Region — 23 %.
- more than 12,000 people were injured, which is 16.1% more than the previous year;
- 900 people died, which is 21.1% more compared to 2024.
- There is particular concern regarding the increase in accidents involving children:
- 2,200 such incidents were recorded, which is 23.7% higher than in 2024;
- 121 children died (an increase of 22%);
- approximately 2,600 children were injured (an increase of 24%).
Supervisory authorities emphasize that the presented data indicates the need to strengthen preventive measures, improve discipline among drivers, and pay special attention to road safety, especially in large cities and regions with high accident rates.
