Edil Baisalov commented on Euronews about the EU sanctions against Kyrgyzstan
According to Baisalov, Kyrgyzstan maintains an active dialogue with both the EU and individual European countries. “We are certainly concerned about the misunderstandings that have arisen. Russia is our largest trading partner, and we have a significant number of labor migrants. This is undoubtedly related to remittances,” he noted.
During his visit to Brussels, he also proposed creating a mechanism that would allow European companies to inform Kyrgyz enterprises about dual-use goods that they may acquire. However, he stated that the European side showed no interest in this proposal.
“Some of the sanctions, of course, surprise us,” he added.
Baisalov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan remains open to cooperation with the EU and seeks to explain its position while focusing on the pragmatic goals of its national development and internal issues.
