Baisalov revealed how much they plan to increase benefits and for whom
At a meeting of the deputy groups "Ala-Too" and "Eldik" held on January 30, Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov noted that the poverty level in the country is about 25%, of which 33% are low-income families with children.
The official also mentioned that 950 thousand children live in poverty. Families with children under 16 years old in such situations receive the "Uiy-bulogo komok" benefit of 1,200 soms.
Baisalov spoke about his recent meeting with the head of the Cabinet, Adylbek Aleshovich, who instructed to consider the possibility of increasing social benefits. "For those who receive benefits at the minimum levels, we will add from 500 to 1,000 soms. For these purposes, 4.5 to 8 billion soms have been allocated," he said.
In addition, Deputy Daniyar Tolonov proposed to revise the criteria for assigning benefits to children under 16 years old. He noted that one of the conditions is a guaranteed minimum income for the family, which is 1,000 soms per person.
According to him, if in a family consisting of parents and three children, the father earns 5,000 soms a month, they may receive the "Uiy-bulogo komok" benefit, but if his income is 6,000 soms, then the benefit is not granted. "How can it be considered that 6,000 soms is a sufficient income for living? This is wrong. Many complain that they are denied benefits because their GMD exceeds 1,000 soms. It is necessary to revise these criteria. Of course, this will require additional funds, and sources of financing will need to be sought," he emphasized.
It is worth noting that social benefits are intended for citizens who do not have the right to pension provision.
