Families that do not actually live there are applying for benefits for residents of the highlands.
During a joint meeting of the parliamentary groups "Eldik" and "Ala-Too," Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov reported that after the introduction of new financial support measures for residents of mountainous areas, difficulties arose in verifying the actual residence of families.
He noted that the decisions made by the government were designed to assist those who truly live in high-altitude areas and to increase birth rates in such places. However, during the processing of benefits, it became evident that some families registered in high-altitude villages actually reside in other regions.
“We are introducing a new mechanism whereby the village administration will verify whether the family actually lives in the given area. They may have registration, but they may actually be in another location, which raises questions for us,” emphasized Baisalov.
Additionally, he stated that the government intends to take measures so that benefits are received only by those families who genuinely reside in high-altitude and hard-to-reach areas.
We remind you that special financial payments are provided for residents of mountainous areas. Since January 1 of this year, families with a third child and subsequent children receive 3,000 soms monthly until the child reaches the age of three. Starting in 2026, mothers of large families living in mountainous areas will be able to expect a one-time "Bala bereke" benefit, which will range from 100,000 to 2 million soms starting from the fourth child.
