In Naryn, a meeting was held with Kanat Sagynbaev, the Minister of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration of the Kyrgyz Republic. He spoke with the parents of children with disabilities who receive services at the "Meikin" rehabilitation center.
According to the ministry's press service, this center provides comprehensive support to children with mental disorders and young people with disabilities, training parents and preparing personal assistants. This contributes to improving the quality and accessibility of rehabilitation services.
The parents discussed several relevant topics, including the need to establish rehabilitation centers in each region, adapting educational programs in schools, increasing staff numbers, and raising salaries for educators and psychologists working with children with disabilities. Attention was also drawn to supporting single mothers and developing sports and leisure clubs for children with special needs.
Kanat Sagynbaev emphasized that the development of rehabilitation services is a state task. He urged parents and community organizations to unite to form and promote initiatives through the work of non-profit organizations.
The minister noted that active participation by parents in the social order mechanism would facilitate the joint development of projects with NGOs and social protection authorities to obtain state support.
“We strive for initiatives originating from local communities to turn into real projects capable of changing the lives of children and their families,” the minister added.
