For over ten years, these enthusiasts have been going on day hikes to the Almalu Gorge (Apple) every week, located in the Jaily district of the Chui region. Notably, the average age of the participants exceeds 70 years.
“We engage in tourism year-round. The only thing that can stop us is bad weather. However, last weekend the weather in the mountains was wonderful: bright sunshine, fresh air, and soft snow created ideal conditions for physical activity. We had a great time playing volleyball in the forest, and on the way back, we sledded down the hill. Such activities lift our spirits for the whole week,” said Olga Antonova.
According to the participants, their outings are not aimed at setting records, but primarily at maintaining health and socializing with each other. Even in cold weather, they do not miss the opportunity for active outdoor recreation, and the route to the Almalu Gorge has become a true tradition for them.
