For the full operation of the oncology service in the Kyrgyz Republic, 4.5 billion soms are required.
According to information from NCOH, a total of 4.5 billion soms is required for the full operation of the oncology service, which is nearly five times the current level of funding.
Monitoring also identified that cancer patients do not receive the necessary medications. The hospital lacked 80 types of essential medicines.
Based on the results of the review of medical and financial documentation, the staff of the Akikatchi Institute noted that this problem is related to constant delays in supplies and insufficient purchases by the state enterprise "Kyrgyzpharmacia".
Patients report that there are no expensive drugs for cancer treatment available in the oncology hospital and other institutions across the country, forcing them to seek and purchase medications on their own.
This situation seriously violates citizens' rights to access necessary medications and quality, continuous treatment.
To fully supply the oncology service with medications, at least 2.5 billion soms are required.
“Urgent measures are needed to address this problem, to revise the existing procurement procedures, and to significantly increase funding for the oncology service. Additionally, NCOH urgently needs new buildings. Each year, the burden on hospitals increases, and in reality, there are two patients per bed, which leads to some patients having to receive infusions while sitting on a chair,” the report following the inspection states.

Oncology departments also operate in the regions, but they do not work at full capacity everywhere. For example, in Osh, there are 15 beds where chemotherapy and simple surgeries are performed. In Manas, Tokmok, and Batken, only patients with mild forms of diseases are accepted. In the Naryn region, there is not a single oncologist.
