Residents of Batken are facing a serious shortage of land plots for individual housing construction. Those who have the financial means purchase plots and continue building, while others, lacking such opportunities, wait for years for their turn and are often forced to live together, with two or three families on one plot.
Local residents report that the allocation of land for housing in the city has not been carried out for about 15 years. “In our family, there are four sons, and each of us has applied to the city hall for a plot. The last time I addressed this issue was in 2014-2015. Unfortunately, none of my brothers have been allocated land. Now we live as four families in one house, while some are renting an apartment. I have children, and I cannot afford to build my own house to separate. I would like this problem to be solved, but we don’t even know who to turn to,” shares his story Abdumitalib Koshmatov, a resident of Batken.

According to the press service of the city hall, the issuance of land plots for housing construction to local residents has not been carried out since 2012.

In addition, in Batken, more than 12 hectares of land have been allocated under the state mortgage lending program, which has undergone a transformation procedure. This is expected to contribute to more rational land use and create conditions for providing housing to the population.

However, the city hall clarifies that there are no available land plots in the city of Batken that could be converted for individual housing construction and provided to citizens waiting for their turn.

As of today, more than 5,000 people are registered in the electronic queue for obtaining a land plot in Batken.
