Historical Record: Kyrgyzstan's International Reserves Exceed $10 Billion
The international reserves of the Kyrgyz Republic have reached a historic record, exceeding 10 billion US dollars. Dayirbek Orunbekov, head of the information policy service of the presidential administration, confirmed this information.
According to him, the chairman of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, Melis Turgunbaev, stated that this concerns gold and foreign exchange reserves. "Today we can be proud that the volume of the country's international reserves has for the first time exceeded 10 billion dollars. This is a significant achievement and a double-digit figure that allows us to approach the levels of major developed countries. Kyrgyzstan can now be considered part of the elite club of countries with high reserves," noted Turgunbaev.
Orunbekov also added that the achieved level of reserves is almost twice the state external debt of the republic, which provides reliable protection for the currency market against potential external shocks and allows covering the country's imports for almost nine months.
Moreover, the growth of international reserves is an important indicator of macroeconomic stability and the level of trust in the financial system of the Kyrgyz Republic.
