Deputy Erulan Kokulov demanded an investigation into journalists
This request was voiced at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh by the president's representative Almasbek Abytov.
During the parliamentary session, deputy Eruulan Kokulov demanded an investigation into the work of journalists. Addressing Almasbek Abytov, the president's representative in parliament, he expressed his concerns.
In his statement, Kokulov noted that there are virtually no real journalists left in the country.
“I am your colleague and have been a journalist myself. I am more familiar with the law on journalism than you are and have reached a high level thanks to my knowledge. My project 'Not Sugar' has also been successful because of this. You cannot consider yourselves journalists, as your materials distort reality. I am speaking here from the podium, while you cut pieces from videos and present them in a way that tarnishes my reputation,” he said, first addressing the journalists and then Abytov.
Furthermore, the parliamentarian pointed out that negative articles arise due to the lack of financial payments to journalists. According to him, some of his fellow deputies sign contracts with media outlets, which leads to positive coverage of their activities in the press.
Kokulov's emotional speech was triggered by publications about the 'Aurora' boarding house. Earlier, he posted a video on social media showing dirty and moldy premises with insects, claiming that this was the boarding house's kitchen. This video caused a wide public outcry. In response, the boarding house's administration distributed materials to the media claiming that the shown premises are not in use and that they contain old and unusable equipment. These claims were also published in the press.
