The Ministry of Construction has presented amendments to the norms of seismic-resistant construction for discussion.
According to the proposed changes, the rules for calculating peak ground acceleration for structures 75 meters tall and above, as well as for unique facilities of IV class social responsibility, will be specified, providing a special procedure for applying the standards.
As stated in the explanatory note, the need for amendments arose due to differences in design practices, where different organizations used various approaches to determine the calculated seismic impact. According to the Ministry of Construction, this could lead to an inadequate assessment of loads on structures when designing high-rise buildings and facilities of high social significance.
The amendment proposes the introduction of a unified approach to calculating PGA for sites with seismicity of 8 points, aimed at improving the reliability of design solutions and reducing seismic risks. It will also allow for better compliance with the current standards SN KR 20-02.
It is important to note that the proposed draft will not require additional financial expenditures and will not lead to negative economic or social consequences.
