An unusual discovery was made by paleontologists in the northern part of Patagonia, where the remains of a new species of titanosaurs were found. The expedition was conducted in the Argentine province of Neuquén, where late Cretaceous deposits were studied. The new species was named Yeneen houssayi.

According to the study published in the journal Historical Biology, this herbivorous dinosaur lived about 83 million years ago and reached a length of 10 to 12 meters, with a mass of up to 10 tons. Its body structure is typical for titanosaurs, with a massive body and a small head.

The discovered remains are among the most complete finds of this kind in the region. Researchers found ribs, neck and back vertebrae, a sacrum, and the first vertebra of the tail. Bones of two other individuals were also found — an adult and, presumably, a juvenile.

Currently, specialists continue to analyze the found materials. Scientists hope that further research will allow for a deeper understanding of the diversity of titanosaurs and the conditions of their habitat in present-day Argentina during the Cretaceous period.
