According to the study published in the journal Historical Biology, this herbivorous dinosaur lived about 83 million years ago and reached a length of 10 to 12 meters, with a mass of up to 10 tons. Its body structure is typical for titanosaurs, with a massive body and a small head.
The discovered remains are among the most complete finds of this kind in the region. Researchers found ribs, neck and back vertebrae, a sacrum, and the first vertebra of the tail. Bones of two other individuals were also found — an adult and, presumably, a juvenile.
Currently, specialists continue to analyze the found materials. Scientists hope that further research will allow for a deeper understanding of the diversity of titanosaurs and the conditions of their habitat in present-day Argentina during the Cretaceous period.
