In Bishkek, an initiative is being considered to install mannequins of police officers near ATMs. This was reported by Rustam Sarybaev, the director of the Academy of Sustainable Development of the Union of Banks of Kyrgyzstan, on the air of "Birinchi Radio."

Sarybaev noted that citizens continue to fall for the tricks of telephone scammers who use fake websites and advertisements.

“Scammers call, posing as employees of banks, mobile operators, or law enforcement agencies. They exert psychological pressure on the victims, intimidate and manipulate them, promising benefits,” he explained.
He also emphasized that financial institutions never request confidential information over the phone or in messengers, such as PIN codes or online banking details.
“If the caller is persistent and speaks aggressively, this should always raise a red flag. We plan to install mannequins of police officers in Bishkek near ATMs, as telephone scammers often lead victims to ATMs and force them to withdraw money, which is then transferred to them or their accomplices. The mannequins should help people realize that they can become victims of fraud. We want to gradually increase the digital literacy of the population,” Sarybaev added.

He also mentioned that the installation of mannequins is a practice used in other countries.

Currently, 100 locations have been chosen for the installation of mannequins in the capital, and in the future, there are plans to expand this initiative across the country, as statistics show that fraud is actively shifting to the regions of Kyrgyzstan.
