In a recent update published by the American scientific journal Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, the hands of the symbolic Doomsday Clock have been moved from 89 to 85 seconds to midnight. This change indicates that, in the opinion of scientists, humanity has come closer to global catastrophe than before.
Now the clock shows 85 seconds to midnight, which is 4 seconds closer than last year when the time was set at 89 seconds according to last year's report.

Among the reasons influencing this decision, scientists noted the "aggressive actions" of nuclear countries such as Russia, the USA, and China. The situation has also been affected by the decline in nuclear weapons control, conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as growing concerns about artificial intelligence.

The Doomsday Clock was created in 1947 by a Chicago-based non-profit organization during the Cold War to inform the public about how close humanity is to potential annihilation.
