The problem of wastefulness cannot be solved by prohibitions - Arslan Koichiev
According to State Secretary Arslan Koichiev, administrative and forceful measures are not capable of solving the problem of wastefulness. He shared his opinion during the program "Elden Sobol," organized by the "Kabar" agency. Koichiev also noted that the very beginning of discussions on reducing wastefulness is an important step forward.
“It is necessary to conduct a public discussion within the framework of a project in which our sociologists, philosophers, and ethnographers should participate in forming a new culture for Kyrgyzstan. For example, the project states that the number of guests at a wedding should not exceed 200 people. The youth make up a significant part of our people and are its future. I fear that such restrictions may be perceived negatively by them. However, our main goal is to care for the youth and reduce financial pressure on them. Perhaps developing more cultural rules for conducting weddings will have a positive impact,” he added.
Arslan Koichiev also touched upon the topic of livestock slaughter. “In the countries of Europe and Asia, where I have had the opportunity to live, there are no strict restrictions on celebrations and memorial ceremonies. For example, we serve meat on large trays, and often it remains uneaten, which is a sign of wastefulness. This practice should be regulated. The tradition of serving ustukans is an ancient custom of the Kyrgyz, which will remind one of the Japanese tea ceremony,” concluded the State Secretary.
