Today in Bishkek, the international patriotic event "Blockade 872" took place, dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade. Participants included representatives of public organizations, government structures, veterans, as well as students and schoolchildren, as reported by the ANO "Eurasia".
As part of the event, various commemorative, educational, and cultural activities were held in Bishkek. In Victory Park, with the support of the Kyrgyz Society of Leningrad Blockade Survivors, a solemn ceremony of laying flowers took place, attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic and a military band.
This event was organized in memory of those who endured the Siege of Leningrad, which lasted for 872 days and became a symbol of mass civil heroism during the Great Patriotic War.
During World War II, Kyrgyzstan accepted more than 16,000 Leningrad residents, including about 3,500 children. Additionally, the residents of the republic sent over 100 train cars filled with food and warm clothing to the besieged city.
The goal of the "Blockade 872" event is to preserve historical memory and develop humanitarian dialogue between the countries of Eurasia. Special attention within the project is given to youth and support for veteran blockade survivors.

Furthermore, a play about the lives of citizens of besieged Leningrad was presented at the Eurasian Center for the Russian Language, opened in Bishkek. A memorial event called "Blockade Bread" also took place here. In more than 50 school classrooms across the country, lessons of courage dedicated to the events of the blockade and the significance of Victory were held.
