Residents of villages in the Chui region report inflated electricity bills
Local residents of Tash-Dobo report a significant increase in charges. "Our family overpaid 1800 soms, and many neighbors have the same problem," they say.
The villagers tried to contact the ayil okmotu and the RES, but, as they claim, the staff could not provide information due to a lack of internet that day. "We couldn't find out anything," they add.
Residents of Belovodskoye also tried to understand the situation on-site. "We went to the RES, but they told us they didn't know anything," they recount.
The situation is no better in the residential area "Ak-Ordo." After the installation of so-called smart meters in November, according to the residents, their monthly expenses increased from 350-400 soms to 600-800 soms in December.
"We paid the January bill, and an hour later, a new receipt arrived with a much higher amount. At first, we thought it was a mistake, but it turns out this affects the whole street," shares one of the residents.
He also noted that half of the residents of "Ak-Ordo," where the meters were replaced, received new high bills.
People emphasize that they heat their homes with coal, so the increase in electricity consumption seems unjustified. When they consulted an electrician, he replied, "These are 'smart' meters; I don't know anything."
NEC has not yet commented on the situation.
