In the Ak-Tal district of the Naryn region, in the village of Togolok, Boto Kuronkeev (Küröңkeev) is engaged in camel breeding, which is becoming an increasingly rare activity in Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the Ministry of Water Management and Agriculture.

This tradition has been passed down in his family from generation to generation. Boto's father began this craft in the 1980s, and now his son continues this important family tradition.

“Camel breeding requires significant effort, but these animals are well adapted to the conditions of the Kyrgyz mountains. They can go without water for up to 40 days, endure frosts of up to -40 degrees, and heat of up to +50. Camels provide us with meat and milk throughout the year, making them valuable in agriculture,” the farmer noted in his address.

Boto is actively developing camel husbandry, distributing animals not only across the Naryn region but also to other regions of the country, with the aim of increasing their population. He also plans to import new mountain breeds of camels from Mongolia.

According to available data, an adult male camel can yield up to 400-500 kilograms of meat. Additionally, there is a growing interest in camel wool, from which various products are made, including clothing, blankets, and items with therapeutic properties for sale.

This initiative contributes to the revival of nearly forgotten camel husbandry in the country and the diversification of the livestock sector.
