The Ministry of Justice spoke about the punishment for lawyers
The Ministry of Justice is accepting complaints from citizens
During a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dedicated to constitutional legislation, Deputy Minister of Justice Orozbek Sydykov reported on a new approach to the accountability of lawyers whose services are funded by the state.
Sydykov noted that if a lawyer represents the interests of the opposing party or commits other violations, the Ministry of Justice has the right to terminate the contract with them. Furthermore, information about such cases will be forwarded to the Ethics Commission of the Bar Association with a request to revoke the lawyer's license.
The Ministry of Justice also proposed a new draft law that clarifies the rules for temporarily suspending a lawyer's work on specific cases. This will allow for a more flexible response to violations without depriving the lawyer of the opportunity to handle other cases, creating a fairer system for both lawyers and citizens receiving legal assistance.
The Deputy Minister also reported that in 2025, 140 million soms were allocated for guaranteed state legal assistance. These funds were distributed among 464 lawyers providing free services.
