Ministry of Justice: In Kyrgyzstan, there is one lawyer for every 21,000 people
For comparison, in the USA, this figure is only about 300 people per lawyer, while in European countries, it ranges from 500 to 2,000.
Sydykov noted that the shortage of lawyers is particularly acute in remote and overcrowded regions, where there are no qualified specialists to provide legal assistance.
In this regard, the draft law proposes the introduction of a localized license for lawyers, which will allow them to work in specific regions within the framework of the state guaranteed legal assistance system on a voluntary basis.
According to Sydykov, this measure is aimed at increasing the accessibility of quality legal assistance for citizens and eliminating the existing regional imbalance.
The Jogorku Kenesh Committee also discussed a draft law that includes changes to the licensing of legal practice, the system of guaranteed state legal assistance, and the procedure for establishing membership fees for lawyers.
