Indonesia to Grant Foreigners Lifetime Residency: Conditions
Immigration and Corrections Minister Agus Andrianto expressed hope that the Indonesian diaspora would contribute to the country's development. He noted that while Indonesia recognizes only one citizenship, many foreigners are eager to reside in its territory for extended periods.
The "Indonesian Global Citizenship" (GCI) program was first introduced in November. Eligible applicants include foreign citizens who were previously Indonesian citizens, as well as their descendants—children and grandchildren.
To apply, one must provide proof of an annual income of at least $15,000 or a monthly income of $1,500, as well as a so-called "immigration guarantee." For specialists invited to work, a corresponding invitation is sufficient. Other candidates will need to invest a minimum of $5,000 in Indonesian securities, open deposits in local banks, or purchase real estate worth at least $1 million.
Although foreigners are prohibited from acquiring land and houses in Indonesia, they can own property under lease conditions, as stated in the publication.
