To prevent the possible entry of the virus into the country, sanitary control measures at the border have been strengthened. Employees of sanitary quarantine points monitor the health status of incoming travelers and check vehicles, as well as conduct preventive measures in accordance with current standards.
All medical institutions in the country have received instructions for the early detection, isolation of patients, and implementation of necessary anti-epidemic measures.
The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan is actively cooperating with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international partners to exchange information on the current epidemiological situation and coordinate preventive actions.
The Nipah virus is a zoonotic infection belonging to the Paramyxoviridae family and can lead to severe respiratory illnesses and encephalitis.
Bats are considered the primary carriers of this virus.
The infection can be transmitted to humans in the following ways:
- through contact with infected animals;
- by consuming food contaminated with biological secretions from sick animals;
- as a result of close contact with an infected person.
The incubation period for the Nipah virus can range from several days to two weeks. The main symptoms include high fever, headache, cough, difficulty breathing, general weakness, and in severe cases, disturbances in consciousness and seizures may occur.
Citizens are advised to:
- maintain personal hygiene;
- avoid contact with wild animals;
- not consume raw or undercooked products;
- seek medical help immediately at the first signs of illness.
