From Marvel superheroes to Turkish dramas: what to watch next week

In the last week of January (from January 26 to February 1), viewers can expect a multitude of series premieres. Over the course of seven days, new entries from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the return of Bridgertons, thrilling British thrillers, and long-awaited sequels to familiar hits will hit the screens.
“Wonder Man,” sci-fi, premiere (January 27)

The plot unfolds in the famous Marvel Cinematic Universe, where the central character is Simon Williams, known as Wonder Man. Williams is the son of a wealthy businessman whose company faces problems due to competition with Tony Stark and his Stark Industries. To change his fate, Simon agrees to the villain Baron Zemo's proposal, ultimately gaining super strength and resilience. Now Wonder Man becomes part of the Avengers...
“The Vanished,” thriller, premiere (February 1)

Alice (Kaley Cuoco) and Tom (Sam Claflin) embark on a romantic trip through France, but everything goes awry. When Tom mysteriously disappears from a train heading south, Alice begins her search for him. Soon, she finds herself embroiled in a dangerous conspiracy and uncovers a shocking truth about the man she thought she loved. The director of all four episodes is Barnaby Thompson, who collaborated with his son Preston, with whom he previously worked on the comedy "Popados." In this new project, they decided to move away from humor, focusing on the dark atmosphere of the thriller.
“Under the Salt Marsh,” thriller, premiere (January 30)

Jackie Ellis (Kelly Reilly) is a former detective now working as a teacher in a coastal town in Wales. Her world is turned upside down when she finds the body of her student in dangerous salt marshes. This tragic event compels her to return to solving the case of her missing niece Ness (Amara Atwal), while a devastating storm approaches the town. Filming took place in picturesque yet harsh locations in North Wales, including Anglesey Island.
“School Spirits,” fantasy, third season (January 26)

The series is based on the work of Nate and Megan Trinrud and Maria Nguyen. The main character, Maddie Niers, is a teenager who finds herself in the afterlife. She decides to uncover the circumstances of her death along with other students who are in a similar situation. Maddie begins to investigate crimes while trying to adapt to life in high school beyond the grave. The closer she gets to uncovering the truth, the more secrets she discovers.
“Bridgertons,” melodrama, fourth season (January 29)

This multi-part show is a historical drama based on literary source material. Set in the not-so-distant past in the British capital, it follows eight sisters and brothers of the Bridgerton family as they strive to build successful lives in high society. Each of them faces challenges and resolves adult problems, as well as finding first love, which does not always turn out well.
“The Dungeon,” drama, premiere (January 26)

Haydar Ali (Deniz Can Aktaş) seeks revenge for his family and ends up in prison, falling under the control of a dangerous cartel. Three years later, he discovers that his beloved Jaylan (Devrim Özkan) has married his friend (Uraz Kaygılaroğlu). Now Haydar faces a choice between loyalty and true love in the world of Turkish organized crime. The screenwriters are the renowned Raji Shashmaz and Bahadır Özden, creators of "Valley of the Wolves," in collaboration with Soner Yalçın, who worked on "Intersection." This powerful team promises viewers an exciting plot and intense action.
“Children of Change,” drama, second season (February 29)

The central theme of this crime drama with elements of dark humor revolves around three brothers from different fathers. Their mother, trolleybus driver Flora, unites her sons into a loving family, where each is ready to sacrifice themselves for the other. However, the year 1995 brings an atmosphere of danger and underground clubs, leading to life-and-death confrontations in their lives. Each of Flora's sons gains friends and secrets, and against the backdrop of crumbling factories, Flora's family begins to fall apart.
“Therapy,” comedy, third season (January 28)

The plot centers around an eccentric psychotherapist who, facing his own problems, begins to behave inappropriately for a specialist. He breaks professional ethics by advising his clients on how to behave in various situations and shares his thoughts on the matter. Some patients are not ready for such an approach, but there are also those whose reactions surprise the psychotherapist himself.
“The Rise of the 49ers,” documentary, premiere (February 1)

Bill Walsh takes an underdog team and turns it into a five-time Super Bowl champion. This documentary project, based on rare archival materials and interviews with players Joe Montana and Steve Young, explores the era of the club's triumph. The narrator is Tom Brady.
