The head of the nursing home on the victims of the fire: One of them was searched for by relatives for seven years
Baktygul Zhankoylieva, the director of the social institution "Umut Uyu," reported that one of the deceased, O. Sh., had been admitted to the nursing home in September 2024 from the homeless shelter "Kolomto."
According to Zhankoylieva, O. Sh. did not have any documents, and there was a mistake in the spelling of his surname during the registration process. Soon after the information about his death spread online, his relatives, who had been searching for him for seven years, found him. His son and daughter came from Talas, sharing that they had already thought he was dead and had even read prayers. They expressed joy that they would be able to bury him on his native land.
The other deceased, V. D., was admitted to the institution in June 2019. He had previously worked for a resident of the village of Tepke in the Ak-Suu district, but after suffering two strokes, he was placed in the nursing home.
The director mentioned that they tried to contact V. D.'s brother to find out his fate, but he had moved to Kazakhstan with his children and was unable to help. Information about the brother was passed on to law enforcement agencies, and V. D. was buried at the "Grozdy" cemetery.
Elizaveta Alymbaeva, a deputy, expressed gratitude to the staff of the institution for providing dignified funerals for their wards, taking into account their religious traditions.
