The law on the reform of medical insurance has been approved in the third reading

The Jogorku Kenesh has completed the process of adopting the bill concerning amendments to the Law "On Medical Insurance for Citizens in the Kyrgyz Republic," approving it in the third reading. The main goal of this document is to provide patients with complete and accessible information about the medical services offered within the framework of the compulsory health insurance (CHI) system.

Now, medical institutions will be required to provide insured citizens with detailed information about available services, the conditions for obtaining them, and the quality of care. This innovation will allow people to familiarize themselves with their rights in advance, minimizing the risks of misunderstanding when receiving medical assistance.

Additionally, the changes strengthen the responsibility of medical institutions, such as hospitals and clinics, in informing patients. It is expected that this will lead to greater transparency in the healthcare system and improve the quality of medical services.

According to the justification report for the bill, to date, more than 5 million citizens of Kyrgyzstan are insured under the CHI system, and the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund interacts with 145 medical organizations across the country. The adoption of this law is aimed at protecting patients' rights and improving the accessibility of medical services.
