Measures to Prevent Suicides Among Military Personnel Discussed in Bishkek
In Bishkek, at the Center for Combat Training of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, an interdepartmental round table was held dedicated to issues of preventing offenses and preventing suicides among military personnel.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic, this event was chaired by Tariel Otonbaev, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, and aimed at developing systemic solutions and coordinating actions to reduce the number of suicides among military personnel.
Participants of the round table included representatives from various agencies, including the Ministry of Defense, the State Committee for National Security, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Service for Execution of Sentences, as well as the Ministry of Education, Science, Higher Education and Innovations, the Ministry of Culture, Information and Youth Policy, the Military Prosecutor's Office, the Department of Internal Affairs of the State Committee for National Security, and faculty members from KNU, BGU, KRSU, along with other public organizations.
During the discussion, reports were presented by officials from the Ministry of Defense concerning the conscription of citizens for military and alternative service, improving the quality of conscription selection, as well as the importance of educational work and organizing health and preventive activities in military units.
Representatives of the Military Prosecutor's Office and the Department of Internal Affairs of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic also provided information on the designated issues.
