Deputy Dastan Bekeshev proposed at the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 22 to reconsider the entry rules into Kyrgyzstan for citizens of Kazakhstan.

He noted that he has received numerous appeals from citizens who are facing problems due to the introduction of the "visa run" system. "Many citizens of Kazakhstan are currently unable to enter Kyrgyzstan. After the law on visa runs is adopted in 2024, families are starting to break apart. For example, a wife may be a Kazakhstani and unable to enter Kyrgyzstan, while their child, born in Kazakhstan and a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, is also facing difficulties. This requires immediate reconsideration. Students are suffering the most. I understand that similar rules apply in Kazakhstan, but I ask for an exception to be made for our citizens. Let's instruct the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to study this situation. Families should not fall apart because of borders, when one is in Kazakhstan and the other is in Kyrgyzstan," Bekeshev emphasized.

The deputy also asked the speaker to instruct the relevant committee to address this issue.

It is worth noting that from September 1, 2025, new stay rules for citizens of Kyrgyzstan will come into effect in Kazakhstan, allowing them to stay there for no more than 90 days within a 180-day period. Violating these rules may lead to entry restrictions. Similar regulations for citizens of Kazakhstan will come into effect in Kyrgyzstan starting December 1, 2025.
