Gender Equality in Public Service. The bill was approved in the second reading in the Housing Committee.
The development of the document was carried out by a group of deputies from the previous convocation. One of the key points is the amendment to the Law "On the Cabinet of Ministers," which now requires that no more than 70 percent of cabinet members belong to one gender.
A similar requirement is introduced for the competitive selection of judges, including those for the Constitutional, Supreme, and local courts. Current legislation already contains a provision on gender representation when appointing judges, but it only applies in cases where the staff consists of five or more people.
In addition, the rule of not having more than 70 percent of individuals of one gender will also apply to the appointment of city mayors, akims, and recruitment for public service.
The bill also includes provisions regarding protection from violence and harassment in the workplace, equal pay for men and women, as well as the necessity of conducting gender audits in public institutions. These measures are aimed at ensuring equal representation of men and women in various fields.
