Speaker of the City Council called to thank the city authorities for reducing smog in Bishkek

At a recent parliamentary meeting, Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu shared positive changes in air quality in Bishkek this winter. He noted that the level of smog in the capital has significantly decreased compared to previous years.

Turgunbek uulu also reported that on certain days, Bishkek even entered the green zone in terms of air quality indicators.

“The city authorities have done significant work to reduce the level of smog. We see that the situation is now better than before. Local authorities are implementing various strategies to improve the environmental situation in Bishkek, and we should express our gratitude to them for this. Although smog has not completely disappeared, its level has noticeably decreased this year,” emphasized the speaker.

According to reports, on January 21, Bishkek ranked first in the world cities air quality rating according to World Air Quality at 21:00. The city received a "hazardous" status, and throughout January, the air in Bishkek was recognized as the dirtiest and most dangerous twice, sometimes ranking third in pollution levels.
