"My husband could never accept that our daughter is sick". The story of a single mother and her daughter
Begimai Toktosunova became a single mother after her divorce, left with a daughter suffering from severe cerebral palsy and a sick mother. For almost six years, the woman has been trying her best to provide for her family, but her income is only enough for daily needs and supportive medications for her daughter and mother. The girl has also been diagnosed with convergent strabismus and bilateral ankle joint deformity, along with a number of other illnesses.

“Aykol was born prematurely, and the diagnosis of cerebral palsy was made immediately after birth. At first, my husband actively helped me take care of her, but over time his attitude changed, and he left us. I think he could never come to terms with our daughter's illness,” Begimai recounts.

After she had to become the sole guardian of an infant requiring constant care and treatment, Begimai moved from her native village to Bishkek.

“In the village, I earned a living by baking buns and supplying them to stores. In Bishkek, I got a job as a hairdresser in a beauty salon. Although I now earn more, life in the city requires higher expenses,” she explains.

Aykol has already undergone two surgeries in Bishkek aimed at correcting the bilateral ankle joint deformity, but unfortunately, the results have been unsatisfactory.

“I learned that abroad there is an opportunity to perform a more complex and effective surgery. I started gathering information and contacted doctors in Turkey, who assured me that in our case, it is possible to correct the clubfoot. The cost of the surgery is $25,000. But I don’t know how I will be able to raise such an amount,” says Begimai.

I have decided to start a fundraising campaign for Aykol's surgery. I ask for help from everyone who can. Every amount is important to us.

For Begimai, Aykol is her only child. The girl cannot walk and has never walked. Her entire existence is dedicated to helping her daughter stand on her feet. The mother’s dream is to see her daughter start walking.

“I really need your support. For all these six years, I have been coping with the difficulties associated with Aykol alone. She has suffered from pain, and I have suffered with her. I am ready to do everything for her, but raising such a sum of money is beyond my capabilities. That is why I decided to turn to kind people for help,” Begimai shares her feelings.

Begimai has managed to raise 500,000 soms, but this amount is not enough to fully cover the cost of the surgery.
