The mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, stated in an interview with the Kabar agency that the waste processing plant in the capital has successfully recycled 49,000 tons of waste. He noted that the opening of this plant is one of the most significant achievements of the city in recent times.

According to the mayor, the construction of the plant was fully financed by a private investor who invested 95 million dollars into the project. Thanks to this, Bishkek was able to implement the project without the need to spend budget funds.

Junushaliev also mentioned the unsuccessful project for the reconstruction of the landfill in Bishkek, which was carried out with a loan of 22 million euros. Currently, a criminal case has been initiated regarding this project, and several former officials have been detained.

The new enterprise is demonstrating good results in its operations: waste recycling helps reduce its volume and addresses a long-standing environmental issue related to the smoke from the sanitary landfill.
