In 2026, various scientific and cultural events are planned in the Turkic world to commemorate the centenary of the First Turkological Congress, which took place in 1926. In connection with this anniversary date, the "Turkic Culture and Heritage" foundation announced the organization of an exhibition featuring ancient maps from the 9th to 19th centuries, stored in archives across Europe and America.

This information became known during a meeting between the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kanatbek Abdrakhmatov, and the head of the foundation, Aktota Raimbekova, along with her deputy, Serik Nurmoldoev. Representatives from the Chingiz Aitmatov Institute of Literature also participated in the discussion.

During the meeting, Aktota Raimbekova presented the first volume of the series "Heroic Epic of the Turkic Peoples" — the book "Heroic Epic of the Kyrgyz People." She emphasized that this publication launches the international project "Heritage of Turkic Folklore," aimed at systematizing and popularizing the folklore heritage of the Turkic peoples.

The book includes the epic "Manas," as well as scientific articles from leading scholars prepared according to international standards, original texts, and translations into Turkic and English languages.

The project involves the Director of the Chingiz Aitmatov Institute of Literature, Academician Abdyladzhan Akmataliev, and the chief researcher of the institute, Manas scholar Zhyldyz Orozobekova. Participants noted the high academic level of the materials in the collection.

The project was presented to the international community on November 4, 2025, in Samarkand during the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference. For the further development of this series, the foundation proposed to include the preparation of the next volumes dedicated to epic works, prose, and ritual folklore of the Kyrgyz people in the research plan of the Chingiz Aitmatov Institute of Literature for 2026–2027.

Kanatbek Abdrakhmatov expressed gratitude to the foundation representatives for their contribution to preserving the cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples and confirmed support for further cooperation, expressing hope for the active participation of the Academy of Sciences in the anniversary events.
