In Kazakhstan, criminal liability for data leaks may be introduced
At a government meeting, Konyashkin noted that such steps are necessary to protect the personal data of the country's citizens.
“We strive to ensure the constitutional rights of citizens to protect their privacy and personal data, which is why we are moving towards a policy of 'zero tolerance' regarding leaks of digital information. In this regard, we plan to significantly increase the maximum amounts of administrative fines for non-compliance with security standards — up to 5,000 monthly calculation indicators, which amounts to 21.6 million tenge,” he stated.
According to Konyashkin, digital transformation should not threaten the safety of citizens. Any careless handling of personal data will be strictly punished in accordance with the law.
