He emphasized that his priority is the development of the state, not attachment to a location, and believes that this matter is not being discussed at the government level.
“We must focus on the development of our country. If the need for such a decision arises in the future, it may be made. Although I cannot say that I personally worry about these rumors, they have made me reflect on the possible consequences. However, at this moment, the issue of relocating the capital is not on the agenda,” the mayor stated.
It should be noted that in September 2025, the city of Jalal-Abad was renamed to Manas. Subsequently, an initiative was raised to grant it the status of a city of republican significance, which could place it on par with Bishkek and Osh. These changes sparked rumors about a possible relocation of the capital to Manas.
The head of the State National Security Committee, Kamchybek Tashiev, also commented on this matter, saying that “time will tell.”
