Starting from January 20, a new rule will come into effect, according to which children under 14 years old will need a foreign passport to travel to Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as to the partially recognized regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, reports Meduza.

The Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia previously notified about this requirement in October 2025. Children who left based on a birth certificate before the specified date will be able to return to Russia using this document.
