Ministry of Justice: Amendments to the Codes Will Be Considered as a Package
The draft law was reviewed in the first reading by the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which is responsible for judicial and legal issues, law enforcement, combating crime, and countering corruption.
Deputy Bolot Ibragimov expressed the opinion that the government is initiating amendments to the codes with the aim of reducing the number of road traffic accidents in the country. He emphasized that he would not want to wait a year to make changes after the law is passed. “The situation with traffic accidents requires immediate action. If I want to propose amendments, do I have to wait a whole year? During that time, people may continue to die in accidents,” he stressed.
Bayetov clarified that deputies can submit their amendments during the discussion of the draft law, and they will be considered within the framework of the package review. “Your proposals are already included in the amendments to the codes. Everything will be presented as one package. First, the project comes from the Cabinet, and then deputies and other interested parties can suggest their changes,” the Justice Minister added.
Furthermore, the deputy compared the current situation to the process of changing the rules for obtaining a driver's license, where the consequences of previous decisions only begin to manifest later.
