One of the significant achievements of Bishkek in 2025 was the successful resolution of the waste disposal problem, as reported by the city's mayor, Aibek Junushaliev, in a podcast by the agency "Kabar".
The mayor noted that the issue of creating a waste recycling plant had remained unresolved for many years, despite numerous resolutions. Previously, similar initiatives often faced criminal cases and arrests among officials.
Junushaliev also recalled the failures of past years when 22 million euros were spent ineffectively. "This time, Bishkek did not spend a single penny from the budget on construction. We attracted an investor who invested 95 million dollars in building the plant," he emphasized.
As of now, the new plant has already processed 49,000 tons of waste.
Moreover, the mayor announced plans for the reclamation of the old landfill. During the opening of the plant, President Sadyr Japarov discussed the issue of eliminating the "garbage mountain." The plant's general director confirmed that recycling these wastes is possible, and work in this direction will begin soon.
Additionally, Aibek Junushaliev noted that thanks to this plant, three more additional plants have been built and launched.
