In 2025, 35 licenses of pawnshops were suspended in Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by Suyorkul Ashimjan uulu, head of the Department of Regulation and Supervision of the Financial Market, in an interview with the "Kabar" agency.

He noted that in case of violations identified under the Code of Offenses, fines are imposed on pawnshop institutions. If such violations continue, a complete revocation of the license is possible.

“According to changes in legislation, the maximum interest rates for pawnshops cannot exceed 30%. In case of violation of this limit or establishment of arbitrary rates, we initiate unscheduled inspections. If violations are confirmed, fines are imposed, and in case of continued illegal activity, the license may be revoked,” Ashimjan uulu explained.

The regulator also reported that last year about 40 pawnshops were inspected, resulting in fines and directives. The largest fine amounted to 310,000 soms.

He also added that during 2025, 35 licenses were suspended, and most violations were rectified by companies within 30 days.

It is worth noting that the head of the GKNB, Kamchybek Tashiev, demanded inspections of all pawnshops the day before. He emphasized that such inspections should be conducted jointly with representatives of the Tax Service and the National Bank.
