"The Emperor is No More." Fashion Designer Valentino Garavani Passed Away in Rome at the Age of 94
The designer founded his famous fashion house in 1959, aiming to make women more beautiful.
With sadness, we announce that the outstanding designer Valentino Garavani passed away in Rome at the age of 94. According to various publications, the designer died on Monday, surrounded by his loved ones, reports "Amic.ru".
The farewell ceremony for Garavani is scheduled for January 24 at 11:00 local time at the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, located in Piazza della Repubblica.
“The Emperor is no more… Valentino Garavani left us at the age of 93 in Rome, in his beloved city, which became his spiritual home, where he chose to live and work his entire life. To grasp the scale of this loss, one does not need to be an expert in fashion: his fame has long surpassed the boundaries of trends and generations,” quotes the foreign press on starhit.ru.
Valentino founded his fashion house in 1959 with the goal of making women beautiful. His unique aesthetic quickly gained popularity among clients, and the designer himself became one of the central figures on the global fashion stage. Throughout his career, he did not shy away from creative experiments — one notable example is the 1967 show, where Garavani presented a completely white collection against the backdrop of hippie culture.
Over time, his clients included not only ordinary fashionistas but also celebrities, including first ladies, royals, and style icons. Jacqueline Kennedy was one of his muses, and dresses created by his brand were worn at the Oscars by stars such as Sophia Loren and Julia Roberts.
In 1998, the designer sold his brand for 300 million dollars but continued to be its symbol. In 2007, Valentino Garavani officially retired from the profession, organizing a series of shows and exhibitions in Rome that became a bright conclusion to his career.
