Today, January 19, in the Issyk-Kul region, local residents gathered by the Karakol River to fill vessels with holy water in honor of the Epiphany holiday.

In the morning, clergymen from the Holy Trinity Church arrived in Karakol to conduct the water blessing ceremony. After that, the city's residents and guests began to collect holy water, wishing their families well-being and peace.

“People gather for water at night and early in the morning when the Epiphany is celebrated. We believe in the healing properties of this water, which lasts throughout the year. When I was younger, I often dove into the cold water, but now my health doesn’t allow it. Happy holiday to everyone!” — shared his thoughts local resident Sergey Ustimov.
This event has become an annual tradition and holds deep spiritual significance for local Christians.

“For us, this water is sacred; we treat it the same way Muslims treat the water from Mecca. We especially keep it carefully for the children. When they are sick or can’t sleep, we wash them with this water and give them a little to drink, and it really helps. On this day, I wish everyone health and many years of life,” — noted local resident Vladimir Andrey.
